Watch: Crowded House live rehearsal and fan Q&A

Fans of Crowded House - and really, who isn't? - are in for a very special treat this evening.

In what promises to be a candid, fascinating and very fun event the band will be live streaming tonight's band practice from their Auckland studio.

They'll be kicking off at 7:30pm and plan to play for just over an hour.

You can watch the live stream right here.

That in itself would be very cool but wait, there's more...

Adding to the uniqueness of the event Neil Finn and co. will also be throwing open the studio's phone lines to take questions from fans, which they'll be answering in between songs.

So if you've ever wanted to ask Crowded House a question, (pro-tip: 'What do you think about New Zealand?' is a long held music journo favourite...) well, now's your once in a lifetime opportunity.

The numbers to call the band on are 0800 110 323 or 09 2830 623.

Of the event Finn said, "we're excited to have an opportunity to play and engage with our friends and supporters around the world live streaming for an hour from the heart of rehearsals, unscripted and intimate as hell."

The band are rehearsing for their upcoming sold out Encore shows at the Sydney Opera House next week.

It's a busy time for Crowded House. As well as the upcoming Sydney shows the band will also be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame next Wednesday night.

They've also recently finished overseeing the Deluxe Edition re-releases of their entire discography, which all include a 36-page book filled with unseen photos and new interviews with Finn and band mate Nick Seymour relating to the album.

Purists will be extremely happy to learn that all of these are available on audiophile-pleasing 180-gram vinyl.
