Kiwi actor Karl Urban has signed on to work with his fellow New Zealander Taika Waititi on the next installation of Thor.

Urban, along with Hollywood star Jeff Goldblum, has joined Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and newcomers Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson.

Urban will play Asgardian villain Skurge the Executioner - one of Asgard's greatest warriors, while Goldblum joins the cast as the Grandmaster, who doesn't actually have direct ties to Thor's story, so it's unclear the role he will play.

Fans have already taken to Twitter to celebrate Urban's casting.
