The Spice Girls reunion is officially happening, even without Mel C or Victoria Beckham.

Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Emma Bunton have recorded new music for the first time in 16 years after reuniting for a 48-hour secret recording session, the Mirror reports.

The trio recorded new material at London's Play Deep Studios ahead of their 20th anniversary in July, and posted their reunion photos to Instagram.

Former producer Eliot Kennedy tweeted that it was "like 20 years had never happened" and they had a "hit song" on their hands.

The new record is expected later this year and live shows are expected to be announced for 2017.

Victoria Beckham reportedly declined to join the reunion as she's focusing on family and her fashion career, and Melanie Chisholm was on board but dropped out to focus on her solo career.
