, Robert Downey jnr's Iron Man is set to make an appearance in the next Spider-Man film.
The Iron Man actor has penned a deal with Sony to join the cast of their latest reboot of the iconic franchise, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Set to start filming in June, Tom Holland will play the newest Spider-Man after portrayals by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. The cast will also include Marisa Tomei who will play Aunt May and Zendaya who is set for a lead female role.
With Disney acquiring Marvel Entertainment in 2009, Spider-Man has long been elusive for the studio as Sony has held the rights to the character since the 1990s. But thanks to a recent deal which sees Sony sharing some control over Spider-Man with Marvel, the iconic superhero has been able to appear in the latest Captain America flick.
Captain America: Civil War is set to feature a key relationship between the two characters, and will introduce fans for the first time to Tom Holland playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Starring a number of Avengers, Captain America: Civil War will be released next month, while Spider-Man: Homecoming is slated for a 2017 release.
