This summer New Zealanders dug deep into a vast catalogue of live-action, animation, comedy and drama to vote for their favourite family film.
Topping the list was Rob Reiner's tongue-in-cheek adventure tale The Princess Bride, followed by The Lion King and The Goonies.
The poll, which was run in conjunction between The Herald and Flicks.co.nz, asked Kiwis to vote for their favourite family movie.
Flicks.co.nz editor Steve Newall said the winner was a great all-rounder.
"The Princess Bride is] thrilling, funny and romantic in equal proportions," he said. "This post-modern sword-wielding adventure is endlessly creative and infinitely quotable."
The top 10 offered a mix of classic Disney titles and meaningful storylines brought to life by some of Hollywood's biggest names.
Steven Spielberg delivered two of the poll's most-loved movies: The Goonies in 3rd place and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial in 5th.
Pixar's Toy Story was voted 4th and the fishy tale of Finding Nemo landed at number 8, while franchise starters Home Alone (6th) and Shrek (7th) spawned many more hours of family-friendly viewing.
Oscar-winning musical The Sound of Music in all its singing, dancing glory was 9th, while the late David Bowie's tight-wearing, baby-snatching character helped Labyrinth into 10th place.
The poll, by Flicks.co.nz and the Herald, revealed Kiwis' favourite family film characters was a tie between E.T and Shrek.
