HAMILTON - A campaign to catch child pornography traders is working, Internal Affairs says. One New Zealander is caught with computer-based pornographic images every three or four days.
This week Putaruru man Clifford Keith Everson, a 36-year-old forestry worker, was given periodic detention and supervision for trading in "shockingly depraved" internet child pornography.
Everson was caught by Internal Affairs inspectors after they made contact with him in a child pornography chat room. Everson sent the inspectors pictures from his computer.
Fifty-three child pornography traders have been dealt with by the courts since 1996 when Internal Affairs began hunting child pornography dealers.
