Home delivery service My Food Bag has launched its first range of heat and eat meals.
The company, which now delivers more than one million meals each month, announced today that it will be offering full meals that can be popped straight into the oven. Sides, typically rice or fresh vegetables, are prepared on the stove top.
The company said in a statement that the limited heat and eat range could be included as an add-on to a regular My Food Bag order, under the new brand From My Kitchen by Nadia.
My Food Bag co-founder Cecilia Robinson said the new dinners would give Kiwis healthy dinners the easy way.
"We've identified a need for top quality, freshly made meals which are simple to prepare and nutritious. They are just the thing for busy professionals and families who still want to provide their families with healthy meals. Just heat, and enjoy," she said.
Customers can subscribe to a chicken or beef or lamb options with the family-sized meals priced at $39.99, each offering four servings. All meals come with a side dish including fresh seasonal vegetables.
Celebrity chef and co-founder Nadia Lim said the company had translated some of its most popular recipes that could be put straight into the oven.
"These meals use the same, high-quality ingredients that you see in our Food Bags - premium produce that is locally sourced wherever possible and top quality free range chicken and free farmed New Zealand meats. It is a fast solution, but it isn't fast food," she said.
Each week two such meals would be made available.
My Food Bag began operations in 2013, offering a service where customers ordered online and received food bags containing recipes for a week's main dinner meals. By mid-2016, it expanded its offering with the launch of the Bargain Box brand and recently launched Fresh Start with Nadia, a new product range designed specifically for people wanting to manage their weight.
