Altitude wins contract for luxury fitout of Boeing

Air New Zealand subsidiary Altitude Aerospace Interiors has landed a contract for a luxury fitout of a Boeing 737 for a customer from the subcontinent.

The company is not releasing details of the client, but Boeing business jet fitouts can cost up to $34 million.

The year-long job will involve fitting out the plane with a luxury interior to meet the client's "exacting standards".

Latest 737s can carry up to 190 passengers, but the completed fitout will cater for a maximum of 19 passengers.

It is the second VIP aircraft completion contract by the Auckland-based company which was launched in 2008.

Work on the latest aircraft will start next year.

Altitude general manager Michael Pervan said contracts involving such high value work took "a lot of legwork to secure".

Staff had built a private jet interior mock-up to demonstrate Altitude's ability to produce high quality finishes and attention to detail this market expected.
