Tauranga 420 sailors Sam Barnett and Zak Merton have hit form at the right time at the 420 Worlds under way in Travemunde, Germany.

The Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club members won the fourth race in the series to fly up the leaderboard. Their race results are sixth, BFD, 22nd and first.

Just two more races are left to complete the qualifying series and for teams to make the cut to the gold and silver fleets for the final six-race series.

Barnett and Merton are in a strong position to make the gold fleet in 34th overall out of 111.

After race 5, the single discard comes in, so expect massive shuffling on the leaderboard as teams discount their worst result and Barnett and Merton can discard their BFD. The final races get under way today.

Meanwhile, Tauranga club mate Trent Rippey is also getting some very impressive results with two more top 10 placings at the Laser Radial Youth Worlds.

His results are 11th, 2nd, 9th and 9th to put him in 15th overall with only three points between him and the top 10.
