A Tauranga liquor store has been the victim of a ram raid, with thieves making off with alcohol and cigarettes overnight.
Police Sergeant Phil Wilkinson said police were notified about 12:15am that an alarm had been activated at Thirsty Liquor on Chapel Street, Tauranga.
Mr Wilkinson said bollards at the store's entrance and the doors had been forced open.
"It's believed this was the result of a vehicle being used," he said.
Mr Wilkinson said a silver Mazda Familia or similar vehicle was seen leaving the area, heading south on Chapel Street.
