Tauranga city pay and display parking machines are going paperless.
From April 3 the machines would be upgraded to a paperless system, requiring customers to instead enter their licence plate number when paying at the new machines.
The machines would sent the information to Tauranga City Council - there would be no need to display a paper ticket on car dashboards.
Enforcement would be done via licence plate recognition - the same as for the Pay My Park phone app.
It would take three weeks to change over all of the machines in town.
