A person has been killed after being crushed between a container and a truck at Mount Maunganui.
Bay of Plenty police Senior Sergeant Graham Perks said police and Worksafe New Zealand were at the Totara St site.
''It is being investigated as a work-related incident,'' Mr Perks said.
St John ambulance paramedics have confirmed a person has died as the result of an accident in the industrial area of Mount Maunganui.
St John Western Bay of Plenty territory manager Ross Clarke said it was too early to comment on the person's details or whether they were working at the time.
Fire Service Northern Communications shift manager Colin Underdown said emergency services were called to a premises on Totara St about noon.
Fire fighters were working on extricating the person.
Earlier reports stated the person was seriously injured.
