Tauranga house sales increase 3 per cent

The number of house sales has increased 3 per cent in Tauranga in December new figures show.

New figures from REINZ show sales rose 3 per cent in Tauranga in December compared to the same month the previous year, and rose 1 per cent in Mount Maunganui/Papamoa.

Elsewhere in the Bay of Plenty, sales fell.

The median price rose 24 per cent in Mount Maunganui/Papamoa and 16 per cent in Tauranga compared to December 2014.

Compared to November the median price rose four per cent in Tauranga.

The average number of days to sell has dropped in the region from 33 days in November to 31 days in December.

The number of sales was up 30 per cent nationally compared with December 2014, with sales in Gisborne rising 113 per cent, Rotorua rising 78 per cent and Taupo four per cent.
