EARLIER: Last night Mount Maunganui's own Mosaic Music got the chance to walk down the red carpet to New Zealand's biggest music event of the year.
Their album, You Surround, was a finalist in the 2014 Vodafone NZ Music Awards in Auckland.
Leading vocalist Simon Hayward said he and the other band members were excited to get the chance to attend the event: "It's one of those things you might only get one chance to do."
The band were nominated at the awards under the gospel category for Best Gospel Album of the Year, alongside two other bands.
"We released an album in March and it went to No1 on all the genres on iTunes for a few days and it got to number three on the Top 40 charts.
"We were blown away, you never expect these things," Mr Hayward said.
Mosaic Music's sound was said to be alternative worship.
"Our influences are Radio Head and Sigur Ros so it's more of an ambient sort of sound compared with pop hits."
The album was the second for the band, who released their first in 2009.
"We beg, borrowed and beg to finish the first one but this one was down at Revolver studios in Auckland with a proper producer."
Currently Mr Hayward, his wife Kelly Hayward and Josh Turner were the three main song writers for the band.
Mr Hayward said the band planned to record another album at the end of 2015.
