New Zealand musicians have shown support for Jack Dixon's family.
Jamie McDell, 21-year-old singer/songwriter, posted a photo on her Facebook page asking fans to donate some money to the family on fundraising website Givealittle, which at 5pm yesterday had reached almost $37,000.
McDell told the Bay of Plenty Times she did not know Jack or his family personally but, like many others supporting his cause, she could only imagine the grief.
"I have a strong connection with Surf Lifesaving, I myself being a lifeguard in the eastern region really understand the amount of effort that will be going into this search.
"Unfortunately I'm unable to be in the Mount area to help, so my small way of showing and encouraging support to both the lifeguards and Jack's family was through my social media."
