Te Puke workers and employers will pay less in ACC levies from today with the average household expected to save approximately $200.
Local MP Todd McClay said the savings were thanks to continuing improvements in ACC which provided an opportunity for levy reductions to benefit employers, the self-employed, families and households.
"Small businesses will also be around $180 better off annually and larger employers will receive, on average, a $6000 reduction. Across the country $387 million will be saved. This is positive news for Te Puke families and businesses and will be welcomed by the many that have raised concerns over the cost of ACC levies," said Mr McClay.
"While it is best that injuries never occur, when accidents happen, it is ACC's job to help get people back to independence. Their focus is on better quality outcomes for claimants, improved privacy, culture change and great customer service.
"At the end of February 2013, ACC's investment returns were $1.1 billion ahead of budget. It is great that they are using that capital to reduce the financial burden on hard working New Zealanders,' he said.
