The driver of a Toyota car who died following a head on collision on State Highway 2 north of Te Puke has been named.

She was Shannon Rose Wall, 27, of Tauranga.

The 64-year-old driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and remains in Tauranga Hospital today.

Police inquiries are continuing and crash investigators are working on a scene survey and analysis.

Police appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has not yet been spoken to by police to contact Senior Constable Nicholas at Tauranga police on 07 577 4300.
