Tauranga City Council's chief executive could be given the authority to spend up to half a million on unbudgeted spending after a Finance and Risk Committee meeting today.
Department heads could also be given the okay to approve spends of up to $100,000 without their boss' permission under proposed changes.
The changes are proposed following a review into staff financial delegations and also include giving chief executive Garry Poole the power to approve multi year contracts, instead of being limited to spends associated with the Annual Plan.
The meeting starts at 1pm.
