Tauranga Batman fans have been lining up for The Dark Knight Rises - despite the tragedy associated with the film's release in the US.
The film has experienced a 60 per cent drop in sales since the July 20 Colorado shooting where a man opened fire inside a Denver movie theatre - killing 12 and wounding 58.
However, Bay movie-goers have been lining up for the film in the 10 days since it opened at Tauranga's Bay City Cinemas.
Owner Paul Desmond said the film was popular.
"So far we've gotten through 10 days of release and compared to the last Batman film which opened July '08, we are almost neck and neck business-wise.
