The country's top police dog is the youngest ever to win.
Rush from Hamilton and his keeper, Senior Constable Blair Spalding, beat 10 other pairs to take the national patrol dog team award in Wellington today.
Senior Constable Spalding said Rush was an excitable dog, but was good on the beat and had caught a lot of burglars already.
"He's still young and he acts young but he's a great police dog so I'm really looking forward to working him more."
He said he was pretty proud of Rush.
