Collegiate sisters not the only family act in town
WHAT ARE the odds? It seems the Wanganui Collegiate girls' 1st X1 wasn't the only team with three pairs of sisters in its lineup for Saturday's Wanganui football league match against Girls' College at Wembley Park.
Girls' College had exactly the same family
makeup, including one set of twins.
Girls College sports co-ordinator Shirley Kuzman agreed it's very unusual but thinks it's great.
"The girls are doing really well and they have a good team spirit, and even though they're sisters they play together really well. Probably the only real rivalry is between Maria and Natasha (Sanson)."
Kuzman said the 1st X1 hockey team had three sisters in last year's lineup, but it was nothing like the soccer side.
"We've only got two sets of twins in the school and to get three sets of sisters in one team is unusual."
To top it all off on Saturday, Girls' College won the match 4-0, their first victory in more than two seasons.
One of the sisters, Tasha Casey, 13, said they all got along fine and didn't really notice the number of siblings in the team. She said the team was hoping for a big season under new coach Des Myers.
