It was their year on all fronts and all courts and Phillips Electrical Wanganui High School A1 were well recognised for it at the Netball Wanganui prizegiving.
WHS started the 2013 season with victory in the Secondary School Premier grade opening day tournament back in May, continuing their dominance ofthis level throughout the year on the way to a convincing win in the final on August 24.
They then spent their Monday nights dominating the Premier Grade competition, having an unbeaten season.
WHS A1 would dethrone defending champions Wanganui Car Centre Kaierau A1 in the final on August 26, winning 56-38.
Given their free-scoring style, the team claimed the Secondary Schools goals average trophy, the Premier goal average trophy and thus also earned the overall Open goal average prize.
So they locked away no fewer than six Netball Wanganui trophies for the summer.
Coached by Lisa Murphy, WHS A1 continued on after the local season to compete at the Lower North Island Secondary Schools tournament, held in New Plymouth this month.
They would finish sixth out of 64 teams from Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wellington, Taranaki and Wanganui.
