Marton Golf Club's Lachie McDonald had a very good final round to lift to 13th place at the Barfoot & Thompson Akarana Open on Sunday.

McDonald shot a final round 63 on the Par 70 course to climb from 29th position.

He finished on 271 in total, nine shots behind the winner in two-time champion Gareth Paddison.

Meanwhile, Manawatu/Whanganui finished 11th at the 2017 New Zealand Womens Masters held at the Ngaruawahia Golf Course.

The team finished with a combined total of 306. Northland were the winners with 379.

And Wanganui Golf Club is hosting their annual Andersons Easter Tournament on April 16.

There will be the usual men's and ladies divisions in stableford competition, plus the nearest the pin and longest drive prizes.

Entry $20, bookings online or by phoning the club.
