The Lupton family from Waverley will be back out on the water with their hydroplanes this weekend.
After December's Wanganui event had to be shut down due to choppy waves, starting today the Luptons will have another chance to compete on Lake Karapiro as part of the Festival of Speed Tour.
"This weekend will see the 88th running of New Zealand's most prestigious trophy, the Masport Cup," said Denise Moughan, president of the New Zealand Powerboat Federation.
"The Waverley guys have been working hard to get their boats ready."
There are 13 entries for the cup a mixture of NZ Formula One boats, Blown Unlimited displacements and modified hydroplanes.
