Wanganui High School's Jessica Watkin blasted 148 runs to lead her team to a 190-run hammering of Nga Tawa in the final of the Wanganui T20 Girls League at Victoria Park on Wednesday.
The Central District's representative Watkin plundered 10 sixes and 15 boundaries as her team reached 216-7. Nga
Tawa were stung when they lost their best player Charlotte Symes with an injury while fielding, but they would prove to have nothing with the bat as they were dismissed for 26, with 16 of those runs coming for extras.
Watkin took 4 wickets for 2 runs from her 3 overs, while Storm Elkenhans (3-5 from three) and Emily McGuinness (2-8 from two) were the other destroyers. WHS will now go onto the Central Districts finals next weekend, also at Victoria Park.
They will play national champions Havelock North High School while New Plymouth Girls High meets Palmerston North Girls High in the other match.
