Watson Wanganui Under-12 have made it through to the final of the 35-over format of their tournament at the Festival of Cricket after a thrilling one-wicket win over South Taranaki yesterday.
After bowling South Taranaki out for 106, Wanganui squeezed through to 107-9 to book their place in today's finalagainst the undefeated Auckland Parnell.
The Aucklanders defeated Manawatu with a comfortable five-wicket win after bowling them out in at Victoria Park.
Parnell and South Taranaki were contesting the T20 final at press time yesterday afternoon after Parnell beat Manawatu and South Taranaki beat Wanganui in games on Sunday afternoon.
The weather was not looking good for today's 35-over final and tournament manager Neil Kirkwood said if it is abandoned, Parnell will claim the title based on their results, having beaten Wanganui on Saturday.
