They have some mighty large shoes to fill but the Taranaki Under-15 cricket team is hopeful to get their campaign for a Central Districts title off on the right track against Taranaki tomorrow.

The game in Hawera is a CD pre-tournament match, with the points from it going towards that event itself.

All eight districts will be represented at the Under 15 tournament.

The last time Wanganui won the tournament was three years ago, which was the Martin Inness-coached team including future New Zealand Under 19 representatives Nick Blundell and Henry Collier.

Amongst this current crop, coached by Hayden Pudney, Sam Beard and James Pennyfather are the key bowlers while Josh Lennox has been in good form with the bat.

Nick O'Leary and Mathew Simes will be the opening batsmen and are looking to make the key partnership for their side.

The team: James Pennyfather, Blair Pudney, James Russell, Angus Dinnwiddle, Josh Lennox, Toby Lennox, Sam Beard, Adam Bolt, Griffin Calver, Nick O'Leary, Tim Robuck, Mathew Simes.
