The Aramoho men's and the Wanganui East women's teams head to Lower Hutt this weekend armed with form to tackle the regional zone interclub bowls finals on the Naenae greens.

Aramoho have an added incentive to come out on top against the Paritutu club from New Plymouth, Paraparaumu Beach and Stokes Valley to secure a spot in the national interclub finals in Palmerston North. They will be seeking to avenge a one-point loss to Nelson in last year's national final.

Ace bowler Sean Johnson will play the singles, Keith Slight and Kevin Coombe the pairs and Dave Anderson, Kevin La Roche, Gary Petersen and Gavin Scrivner the fours.

Slight has been called into the side to fill in for Peter Belliss who was unavailable and will skip the pairs,

"We've won the national interclub final twice and only went down by one point against Nelson last year.

"I'd like to think we have the team to feature this weekend and make yet another national final," Slight said yesterday.

The Wanganui East women have played at this level before, but have yet to chalk up a national interclub finals win.

Team manager Kathy Garrett said the side had a practice run against the Wanganui East men on Monday night and showed they were right on target for a top showing at Naenae this Saturday.

"We won the pairs and the fours against the men and went down in the singles during our practice run and the men don't make it easy for us.

"If we can take that form to Lower Hutt we have every chance of winning - the girls are in-form," Garrett said.

Wanganui East women meet Taranaki and Kapiti Coast in the playoffs this weekend.

Maria Klitscher will play the singles, Marilyn Constantine and Sadie Head the pairs and Claire Ellen, Eileen Anderson, Anne Anderson and Robin Firmin make up the fours team.
