The Taranaki men's team continued their dominance and their women's team got in on the party during the Men's and Women's Academy 5-year and under hexagonal tournaments in Wanganui earlier this month.
A popular representative tournament designed for players with five years or less experience, Wanganui hosted teams from theHawke's Bay, Wellington, Kapiti Coast, Manawatu and Wellington bowling centres.
At the men's tournament at the Wanganui Bowling Club, Taranaki retained the title which they actually won twice in 2013 - after the men's tournament was first played in May and then replayed when it was combined with the women's in October.
Manawatu were second while the Wanganui team, captained by Peter Cassidy, was third.
The women's tournament was held at the Castlecliff Bowling Club and Taranaki were narrow winners over Hawkes Bay, with Wellington third.
Defending champions Kapiti Coast were back in fourth while Wanganui brought up the rear.
The next representative bowls will be the Arnott Shield and Duckett Shield tournaments between the senior Wanganui, Taranaki and Manawatu teams on November 15.
