Napier man Phil Krueger missed out on a record at the Splash Centre on Wednesday night but wasn't too worried - he already holds seven other records.
The 67-year-old missed the national masters record in the 50m breaststroke by 1.5s, but said it wasn't a big deal to him.
"Imissed out on another in the 200m too, but I know I'm not in the best shape I should be.
"I tried but I wasn't quite good enough, and that's fine by me. I'll be back in two years to try again," he said. Krueger began his Masters Games career at Dunedin in 2000 and enjoyed it so much he goes there every two years, as well as Wanganui from his first games in 2001.
"The volunteers have done a real good job here tonight. Everything's been running on time and we've all had great fun.
