The talented greyhound Cawbourne Brick celebrated his 100th career race day outing with a deserved victory in last Friday's open class 520m event.

The Matt Roberts-trained chaser cemented his milestone win after stepping away smartly from the ace-trap.

He is provided with every opportunity of being able to return and stand on top of the podium from the same trap for the 32nd time in his career following this evening's 520m event (Race 10, 9.07pm).

It was Our Gypsy who gamely led the chase home behind him last week and she is likely to do likewise again here for her conditioner Lisa Ahern, who churned out a remarkable 49 winners during the first month of the new racing season.

She is likely to receive a clear early racing passage into the first turn after leaping from the six-trap here, especially as her hard railing kennelmate Flying Merkel has drawn on her immediate inner.

He was bold when finishing third in last Friday's version of this event and despite his poor draw he can snare another stake here.

Top Prosecutor hinted that a return to form isn't far away for him when delivering his sound fourth last week.

The improved draw (trap-two) which this Angela Turnwald-prepared bloke receives here can assist that potential form improvement for him here.

Roberts has a second stringer engaged in this race with Cawbourne Cooks looming as the best of the rest of the contenders here.

This evening's $4,000 race serves as a warm for the important Hatrick-hosted Group 1 Waterloo Cup heat over 520m next Friday.

The Waterloo Cup is unique in its format as aside from the Hatrick heat, other heats will also be contested at Addington (520m) and Cambridge (457m) next Thursday, while the Manukau (527m) heat will be decided on Sunday week.

The first two greyhounds to finish in all heats will then advance through to the Auckland hosted $30,000 final on September 18, where more than Group 1 glory awaits the winner.

The finals victor will receive a prized invitation directly into a heat of the world's richest greyhound race - the A$600,000 Melbourne Cup - which will be contested on Sandown Park in November.
