The top Central Region stars added more titles to their collections at the Wanganui Badminton under 15 and under 17 Opens at Springvale Stadium over the weekend.
Representing Taranaki, the Thailand exchange student Pun Thepkunhanimit who recently won the 2013 Australasian U17 boys' title, claimed the Wanganui U17 crown as
well, comfortably beating Wellington North's Wei-Ming Lim in the final.
Lim did not leave empty handed however, as he teamed with Pingkan Polak, the top ranked Central Region girl, to claim the mixed doubles title by beating Thepkunhanimit and their fellow Wellington North player Caragh Alley in the final.
There was something of an upset in the girls' singles draw as No2 seed Alley was beatewn in the semifinal by her younger sister Niamh Alley, in a result some had been predicting.
However the younger Alley was not able to overcome Polak, who claimed the girls' singles crown as expected.
