The open class 520m greyhounds continue to provide the racing highlight each Friday evening and tonight's edition at the Hatrick Raceway promises more of the same.

Rene Ranger was relentless in his pursuit of the pacemaker to win last week's version and despite missing in his Manawatu 457m back-up race on Monday, he is poised to serve up a repeat dose in Race 10 (8.43pm) today.

Drawing trap-two has enhanced the claims this Lisa Ahern trained chaser owns in this event.

Both Ritza Jack and Johnny Ritza are capable of mowing down their kennelmate.

Their recent misses can best be forgiven as they both own the paw power to assert their dominance here.

Looking to spoil the Ahern party is Rigs.

This bloke owns some serious winning 520m times and another sub-30 second gallop around here can see him prevailing for Paul Freeman and Angela Turnwald.

And throw a loose quaddie ticket on to the locally Ric Waite-trained Barry's Way, who resumes here after a five-month spell. He may well need this outing, but there again he is a proven chaser at this level and a cheeky fresh-up effort by this bloke wouldn't surprise.

The first leg of the TAB quaddie is the preceding race (8.10pm) where the poorly drawn Wild Punting holds the key.

If he can blast away from the five trap this sprint is his for the taking. If he doesn't, then this field really opens up.

Coming into play, if Wild Punting does bomb the start, are likely to be inside drawn sprinters Isabelle Domain, Swapan and Uno Allegro, while the claims of reserve Nitro Luis cannot be lightly dismissed as he is likely to leap from trap four.

The third quaddie leg features a couple of downgrading open class sprinters in Bee Rabbit and Lady Annabel. Both should be included in this dash.

Others to consider here are Enazuma and the upgrading, but nicely drawn Go Fern Go.

Matilda's Babe is another sprinter who is gaining class relief in the final race and she has drawn to make her presence felt after just missing a stake in her latest assignments in far stronger fields.

She appeals as a quaddie anchor here, however if she does make an early mistake, then the likes of Opawa Sister, Super Rooster and Agent Jorge can feature.
