Conditions were ideal with wind knots of 9-11 at the Wanganui Schools' Sailing Regatta on Wednesday.

Held on the Whanganui River, beside the Wanganui Sailing Club, there were 16 competing boats - 10 from Collegiate and six from Wanganui High School.

They split into the Topper, Starling and Splash classes to find race honours, then all the results were combined on handicap to find an overall winner.

Collegiate's James Durkin-Wright was the top sailor, followed by Wanganui High School's Jack Southee and Collegiate's Thom Evans.
