Whanganui's Raj sisters may have beaten their Australian opponents but it wasn't enough for New Zealand to retain the US Kids Golf Trans-Tasman Cup at the weekend.
Tara and Sera Raj have returned from the two-day tournament which was held at Barnwell Golf Club in Sydney.
The matchplay tournament hadsix boys and girls teams from both countries competing across the various age groups.
New Zealand went into the weekend as defending champions but Australia ran out one-point winners.
The New Zealand team was selected from US Kids Gold qualifying tournaments held in Auckland and Wellington earlier in the year.
The US Kids Golf tournaments are a series of premier junior tournaments held worldwide culminating in the World Championships in Pinehurst in July which both girls have qualified for through the Wellington tour.
In Sydney the Raj sisters won both their rounds against their respective Australian opponents.
"It was disappointing not being able to retain the Trans-Tasman trophy," Tara said.
