The latest chapter in a rich school sporting tradition was played out on the fields around St George's School yesterday as they hosted the annual girls Quadrangular Tournament.
Woodford House and Iona College (Havelock North) as well as Carncot Independent School for Girls (Palmerston North) sent girls teams to contestthree sports, involving 16 teams in total.
The netball, hockey and football games were played at Springvale Stadium, the Collegiate Turf and the old St George campus fields respectively.
St George's headmaster Andrew Osmond explained while the tournament was decades old between a couple of the schools, the constant travel meant it was decided nine years ago to bring the four together for one quadrangular.
Iona won both the four-team soccer competition and the four-team hockey tournament, both 7-a-side events.
