Wanganui will have a strong presence in the representative teams playing provincial tournaments in the coming weeks.

Young golfers Tara Raj, Kyra Garrett and Amber-Rose Newt-Thompson (Castlecliff) have been selected in the Manawatu Wanganui girls team to play the Girls Junior Interprovincial in Rotorua, October 7-11.

Their teammates include 2013 Wanganui Open winner Brydie Hodge, of Levin.

Lachie McDonald (Marton), Hayden Ring and Tyler Lock (both Castlecliff) are in the 10-man Manawatu Wanganui senior men's team to contest the Shand Cup against Wellington, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay at Paraparaumu Beach on October 12-13. The team will be without four of the usual top six players as Josh Munn, Tyler Hodge, Trent Munn and Ewan Westergaard are unavailable.

The Manawatu Wanganui women's team will also contest the Sybil Green at the same time.
