Mayoral elect Hamish McDouall did briefly contemplate his term ending before it began as he climbed into the Ford Mustang of 'Racing' Ray Williams on Kaikokopu Rd yesterday morning.
"I found one of the rollercoasters at Disneyland hard enough. I'm terrified," McDouall said.
The local political dignitaries in McDouall, out-goingmayor Annette Main and MP Chester Borrows were given a 'hot lap' up Brunswick and around to Bushey Park for the Whanganui touring leg of the Targa NZ rally, which was passing through town from Ohakune on their way to Palmerston North in the afternoon.

This year's event is a tighter four day run, starting in Taupo on Thursday and finishing in Havelock North tomorrow.
