Wanganui Harrier Club hosted the running of the Jollie Joyce Jorum last weekend.
The 16km race comprised four laps running around the Wanganui East Railway Marshalling Yard, starting and finishing at the Wanganui East Club.
"An ideal race for spectators to watch, the conditions were fair with a few specksof rain but little wind," said club spokesman Iain Steven.
Josh Payne was the pace-setter in the men's race, coming home first in one hour, 1.16 minutes, followed by Neil Mayo and Adam Holmes in a tussle for second place.
The women's run was won by Nelda Hazlehurst in 1:16.58, followed by Elly Young and Aimme Simpson.
Best men's walker was Darroll Pointon, who showed his experience in the race to hold out Pete Monrad and Damien Wood and finish in a time of 1:56.19.
"The women's walk was won by the 'speed queen' herself, Gai Marie Smart, in a time of 1:44.36, leaving Marilyn Horton and Margaret Stratford to take second and third places respectively with only five seconds separating the two," said Steven.
