Once again Palmerston North Boys High School were the side handing out the lessons to a Wanganui team in the Western Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
The Manawatu schoolboys beat Wanganui Athletic 2-0 at Skoglund Park.
The visitors had been on an upward trend but hit a bump as the youngschool side, who have shown a marked improvement.
They have leapt up the league standings to be threatening for a title shot and are not easy to beat at home at any time.
With the hosts always playing an attractive passing game, Athletic were unable to keep up their recent momentum and fell short this week after finding the net freely of late.
Wanganui City Reserves managed to reverse their form from last weekend and secured a comprehensive 4-0 win over Levin AFC on the road at Donnelly Park.
With only two league fixtures to come in the season for the City side, their hold on second place on the ladder is tenuous.
Their spot is also due to teams around them, or just below, having games in hand due to postponements earlier in the year for cup competitions.
