Oval Superstars Tour to debut in Whanganui

The Oval Superstars Tour hits Oceanview Speedway for the first time this summer.

The minisprint series is in it's fourth season, having held 17 events around the lower North Island, but will come to Whanganui for the first time on December 10.

The tour's best drivers will battle locals, including former 2014 OST champion Cameron Hurley, to be the first ever winner in Whanganui.

"We're very excited to take the tour to a new track and showcase our drivers to an even bigger fan base," OST director James Hadley said.

"This is going to be the biggest season yet for Oval Superstars both on track and off and we're looking forward to giving fans in Whanganui something new to experience at their local speedway."

More than 30 individual drivers take part in the season and but OST are picking even more this season.

Wanganui Stockcar & Speedway Club spokesperson Tony Stuart said the club was delighted to be hosting a round of the popular series.

"Minisprints have been a popular addition to our race programme for a couple of seasons now," he said.

"A full field of Oval Superstars Tour competitors will provide spectacular action at Oceanview Speedway."

The Wanganui OST round will be run in the evening, so drivers should have the very best track conditions that the WSSC can produce."
