A switch in his weekend schedule worked for Whanganui's Paul Nesbitt as he became the line honours winner of the 10km road run and walk at his first attempt yesterday.
On the course around Taupo Quay, Nesbitt chased after the early leader in the 122 competitor field, and soon foundhimself well in front to take a comfortable overall win and medal for the 45+ Men's grade in 39.28s.
A veteran multisporter, Nesbitt would usually enter Saturday morning's NZMG duathlon, however work committments prevented it this year.
"I did a bit of training for [this]. I found it a really good course.
"The last 2km it started to hurt a bit. I was running like four minute kilometres, which is good."
