Wanganui region bowlers have had strong success at the Bowls NZ regional club championship playoffs at Wellington's Johnsonville club green this week.
Zone 4 centres Wanganui, Taranaki, Wellington, and Kapiti Coast teams have been competing in men's and women's singles, pairs, triples, fours and mixed pairs to select representatives for
the national finals at Dunedin in June.
Aramoho's Peter Belliss and Wanganui BC's Dot Belliss were third in the mixed pairs.
The first national finalist was found on Tuesday when Wanganui BC's Dianne Patterson won the women's singles. Wanganui East's Maynell (Robbie) Robinson was runnerup. In a great double, Warrick and Cary Pinker won the men's pairs for their Wanganui club while Sadie Head and Maria Klitscher of Wanganui East took out the women's pairs.
The triples saw Taihape BC's Ken Mason (s), Bruce Fannin and Les Thurston come second behind the Paritutu team from Taranaki, while the Aramoho BC women in Syria Prescott (s), Chrysa Munro and Eleni Meimaris went winless.
