Well, they wouldn't ask you to do it if they wouldn't do it themselves.

Sport Wanganui staff have been out testing the course for the epic slog through the slop, water and tussock that makes up the McDonald's Mud Muster, being held at the Rangitikei Farmstay on the Tyrone Farm in picturesque Turakina Valley, October 19.

Entries close for the fun mud run this coming Friday (October 4) and since they have powered their way through personally, Sport Wanganui staff would hate anyone to miss out and are calling for all potential mud runners to get their entries in now.

"Participants are lining up from all areas, with entrants coming from as far as Wellington and Auckland to take part in what promises to be a challenging and entertaining event," said a press release.

With a choice of a 5km or 10km lap, competitors will be challenged by a variety of natural terrain and obstacles such as hills, ponds, streams, swamps, logs, and more.

There are also challenging man-made obstacles contestants have to be prepared to climb over, under or go through.

The staff know - they did a working bee last week to put in those obstacles while also finalising the course.

"The course is designed for youth and adults, and will provide a great opportunity for fun, laughter, team bonding, confidence building, mental and physical achievement."

Everyone will have their run time recorded via an electronic timing system and the top three competitors in each category will be announced.

To get to the course, a bus will be available for interested parties - departing from Wanganui central and returning for a fare of $10.

More details about the Mud Muster, including a preview trailer and sneak-preview photos, can be found on the Sport Wanganui website (sportwanganui.co.nz), or on the Sport Wanganui Facebook page.

It is open to male and female adults, and secondary students aged 12 years and older.

Register online at www.sportsground.co.nz/mudmuster, before the deadline on Friday.
