Wanganui City's team enjoyed a good collective day at the office on Saturday when they comprehen-sively beat visitors Feilding United 6-1.

Man of the match JJ McInnes, with four goals, had his side off to a flyer with a first half hat-trick which could well have been four with the last kick of the half.

City obviously enjoy playing Feilding, netting fourteen times in their three meetings this season, and while they would have been disappointed to have conceded a soft goal in the latest encounter, it was all in all another efficient performance from the locals.

McInnes, usually slotting in a defensive role found space, time and plenty of opportunity in a wide attacking role.

Set up well by his team-mates, he made the most of the positional change and will be looking forward to any other chances to fill the gap again in the future.

Feilding weren't without their chances and goalkeeper Kevin Keegan was asked to pull off a couple of top shelf saves to keep the dogged opposition at bay.

Funnily Keegan, on the scorer's sheet last week, was asked to fill in the custodian's position while usual shot stopper Jack Judd-Nuttall headed to watch Manchester United in Sydney.

Not too many things went wrong for City as they controlled the majority of the encounter and apart from a brief spell in the first half, and the goal conceded effort in the second, were value for their score.

Zane Robinson and Jordan Joblin-Hall caused plenty of problems for the opposition with the ball at their feet. Robinson can lay claim to a second half goal although the ownership may be listed as the dreaded own-goal for Feilding.

Another defender got into the scoring act as well when tall youngster Shaan Stuart netted in the second half.

It was a good outing all around for some who don't regularly score and a good hit out for a tough away encounter next week against a second placed Redsox - desperate to win to keep pressure on leaders PN Marist.

It was a great day as well for Wanganui Athletic with a resounding 4-1 win against PN Marist Reserves over at Skoglund Park.

The victory was moral-boosting for two reasons - a road win can be hard work at the best of times, but also the three points earned now leapfrogs the Wanganui side off the bottom rung in the standings.

Goals from Naji Ghamri, Chris Burney and a brace from departing striker Garret Clarkson nailed some sweet revenge and turned around the result from the earlier season encounter between the two teams. It was another step forward for Athletic and some confidence for their next encounter when they host the side they leapfrogged positions, North End Reserves, in the coming weekend.

Not so good for Wanganui City Reserves was the lesson from the school side at PNBHS, who beat them 3-1.

It was a disappointment for the travelling City side after just re-starting their campaign the week before and somewhat of a stutter as they may well have lost opportunity.

Time will now will be against City if they were hoping to give leaders Redsox Rovers a run for their money in the title chase.
