Wanganui cricketer Nick Blundell and his New Zealand Under 19 team bounced back from their disappointing loss to Australia on Sunday to beat Papua New Guinea by 133 runs on Tuesday.
His flatmate Henry Collier was not named in the team at the Gardens Oval in Darwin, and put intobat the New Zealand top order struggled as they collapsed to 5-59.
However, as he did against Australia, Canterbury's Ken McClure anchored the ship with a top score of 78 in a good partnership with Otago's Alec Hodgson, who added 71.
Blundell played a solid supporting hand coming in at No8.
He hit 28 off 25 balls including two boundaries as New Zealand finished 259-9 off their 50 overs.
