There were 59 entries for the Wanganui Harrier Club's 16km dash from Castlecliff Beach to Aramoho on Sunday morning.

The Brine to Wine road race attracted 13 teams and 18 individual walkers or runners for the journey from Duncan Pavilion to the Whanganui River Top 10 Holiday Park on Somme Parade.

Starting at 8am, the first of the walking teams and solo competitors started arriving at the camp beside the Whanganui River just after 9am, with the runners coming in the following hour after their later start.

Neil Mayo was the clear overall winner of the run, finishing just over two minutes ahead of Jimmy Hildreth, Adam Holmes and Jason Daws in a tight race for the minor honours.

Nelda Hazelhurst won the women's race in a close finish with Elly Arnst.
