Wanganui racer Aaron Marr is on the pace in the Formula Ford Series.

He qualified fourth at Hampton Downs at the weekend where all times were close.

In the first race Marr did not start that well, dropping to fifth, but by lap four he was in the lead. He built a gap and then consistently held it to finish first for the first time this season.

In race two Marr started second and then dropped to third. On lap five he caught an oil slick left by one of the other earlier cars. He spun off the track but managed to keep it going and finish fifth.

In the final, top racer Kenny Smith got past the others and started to track down Marr.

Smith is not competing for the National Championship, so on the last lap when caught Marr decided to let Smith through rather than give the others the opportunity to catch up while battling for the lead.

Marr now looks forward to Manfeild this weekend.
