Three seconds in Taupo at the weekend has shunted Wanganui racer Aaron Marr into third place with two rounds of the New Zealand Formula Ford series to run.
Despite a DNF when his motor blew earlier in the series, Marr remains one of four drivers in serious contention to winthe championship. Manfield hosts the penultimate round this weekend, while the final round is at Hampton Downs three weeks later.
"I qualified third at Taupo and had three second place finishes giving me second overall for the weekend, and third overall in the series with two rounds to go," Marr said. "The chances of moving further up the pack are totally reliant on the two drivers ahead of me having a bad weekend. A DNF by either driver would put four drivers all within a few points of winning the championship. The car is going very well and we hope to have some consistently good results at the last two rounds," he said.
Christchurch driver Caleb Cross leads the series on 734 points, ahead of Michael Scott from Te Puke on 666, while Marr sits on 638 four points ahead of fourth placed Taylor Cockerton.
