Getting a Wanganui schoolgirls sevens team to the national Condor Sevens competition is part of the focus of some intense training going down on Tuesdays at the moment.
Growing out of the Wanganui district sevens competition in April, where the girls grade was won by Wanganui High School, three teamshave carried on playing inter-school games, with the matches hosted on the high school fields.
Spokeswoman Marilyn Wilkie of WHS said they are all gearing up for another tournament involving teams from Horowhenua/Kapiti, being held in Bulls later this month.
From there, the teams will go to the Taranaki regional sevens tournament, being held at the end of August.
The top three teams at the regionals for both boys and girls will be going on to the Condor Sevens in Auckland at the start of December.
